What is ISTQB? 

ISTQB stands for "International Software Testing Qualifications Board". It offers global standard certifications called “ISTQB Certified Software Tester”.
   
Type of certifications offered by ISTQB
 
There are three types of certifications in ISTQB that are follows:

Foundation Level(CTFL): 

The Foundation Level Certification is aimed at anyone involved in software testing. 

Course Content:                         
             
  • Fundamentals of Software Testing
  • Testing through the software life cycle
  • Static techniques
  • Test design techniques
  • Test management
  • Tool support of Testing
Advanced Level(CTAL): 

The Advanced Level Certification is aimed at people who have higher knowledge in their careers in software testing. Software Testers, Test Analysts, Test Engineers, Test Consultants, Test Managers, User Acceptance Testers and Software Developers, all this people are included. 

To get Advanced Level Certification, candidate must have clear the Foundation Level Certificate and have sufficient practical experience to be considered as Advanced Level qualified. 

There are three specializations of Advanced Level that are follows:  
  • Test Manager 
  • Test Analyst 
  • Technical Test Analyst 
A specific exam and certification is available for each of the three specializations. When a certified tester successfully achieves certification on all three specializations, he/she receives a "Full Advanced Level" certificate. 

Expert Level(CTEL): 

There are four modules in Expert Level, two are released and others are in developments that are follows.  

  • Improving the Test Process 
  • Test Management 
  • Test Automation (in progress) 
  • Security Testing (in progress) 
To obtain Expert Level certification, candidates must have:  

  • Foundation Certificate 
  • Advanced Certificate depending on the Expert Module desired 
  • Passed the Expert Level Exam 
  • 5 years of practical testing experience 
  • 2 years of industry experience in the specific Expert Level topic
